1. an error in action, calculation, opinion, or judgment caused by poor reasoning, carelessness, insufficient knowledge, or a couple of glasses before dinner.

2. an error in ordering the steak special at a fancy restaurant without first finding out how much it costs, recognizing the ommission on the staff member's part may have been intentional.
