My Generation's Sinatra

It looks like the rest of the world shares my fascination with all things David. Witness THIS REVIEW section of his album Looking for the Best, which contains 1,030 reviews of the smash album, with appropriate commentary/homage to the genius that is David Hasselhoff.

It works so well because he just rolls with it and doesn't take himself seriously. He knows he's a tool.

Same with Chuck Norris -- his "aw, shucks" reaction to his internet fame hits just the right note.

I guess the lesson for us is to never underestimate the endearing power of self-deprecation.

I could NOT agree more. On the flip side, you have people like David Cassidy who take themselves much too seriously, and have even less reason to do so.

I like Hasselhoff for the same reason I like Norris and even Shatner: they are able to laugh at themselves. Kind of like redheads in that way...
