Let the Games Begin...

I signed up for my second triathlon...the goal: To top last year's performance. I'd like to finish in less than 1:30...only in Triathlon can they call a race that lasts one to two hours a "sprint"...sickos. And I'm going to be one of them. Again.

That's great, Fish!! Best of luck to you this year. It's only 2 weeks away, yikes. Make sure that wetsuit is in good condition. Looking forward to a post-race report/pics at JP's.

I've checked my gear and it's all good. Water is going to be coooooold, though. Last year it was simply breathtaking...literally.

Good luck man.

Do you have any clue on last years splits? I think you mentioned you lost your timing chip in your report.

Good luck on your goal!

I did lose my chip, so I have no idea on splits. I figure at 142, I need to shave 4 minutes off each section/transition. I know T-1 was very sloppy for me last year. That's at least a minute. Plus, just the general not knowing what to expect made me hold back a little, I suspect (you never feel like that at the end).

I'm fairly certaing I can take 1-2 off the swim, and much more off the bike. Not sure about the run, but yesterday I felt really strong. We'll see--In my opinion, it's going to be close, in all honesty....

Sucks not knowing the splits.

Have you been incorporating swim drill s into your swim routines?

What aspect of the T-1 caused you the most grief?

I never thought I would say this, but right now I feel my Bike is the worst of my three events. The others have all made marked improvements, where I don't really feel that on the bike.

Good luck!

I have not been able to swim...last year I had a pool, so I was doing a lot of swimming. I grew up at the Jersey shore, so I've always been a pretty strong swimmer.

Re: T-1...know your exit route. Lay your towel out thoroughly. Open your shoes and get your socks ready to roll them on. This year, before the race, I will be putting them on, then rollling them down so they're ready to go.

Your posts on the jpfitness forums are a great help. Best of luck on your second Tri.
